March 11, 2017 On Saturday March 11th, Mass at the Chapel of our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia: Fr Dennis Gill will be celebrating the Mass for all of those concerned with addiction.
March 25, 2017 The Calix Society will consecrate itself to the Blessed Mother. We are trying to arrange for a Mass to be held at the Basilica in Washington DC for this occasion. Here’s the text of the letter from Bruce Gnatowksi, president of The Calix Society:
Dear Calix Family,
Thursday, December 8th, marks the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This Marian Feast Day is of such importance that the Church observes it as a Holy Day of Obligation in which we thank God for His Mercy. For it is by His Mercy that the Blessed Virgin Mary was created as the Immaculate Conception; a worthy dwelling prepared for the Son of God’s arrival in the world.
The Calix Society was created with the Blessed Virgin Mary as our Patroness. Honoring Our Patroness by consecrating The Calix Society to Mary seems essential to our continued existence, and to our future growth as an organization. On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, I invite every Calix member to prayerfully consider joining me in a communal act of consecration of the entire Calix Society to Mary’s Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. The date proposed for the act of consecration would be March 25th; the rationale is provided in the attached letter. We will work on the wording of the act, and on furthering each member’s understanding of Mary’s role in recovery between now and March 25, 2017.
Thank you for supporting this initiative. Please share this email and the attached letter with all members, prospective members, and any persons concerned with our stated purpose – the spiritual growth of ALL persons affected by the illness of alcoholism.
